A palette to match the personality.
Shailja’s personality exudes the charm of her palette that probably holds the rainbow of her optimism, her thoughts, and the depths of the oceans of her perspectives towards life.
A veteran of myriad forms of fine arts—and a lifelong member of The Art Society of India, and The National Centre For The Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai—her work also adorns various prestigious walls across the lengths and breadths of the country and beyond, despite no formal training in the fine arts.
To her, this lack of methodical learning allows her to break-free from structures and styles; allowing the paintings to speak for themselves instead of being bound by conventions.
Using oil colours that never fade—either on recycled paper or canvas—every piece of Shailja’s art begins without any prior sketching or drawing.
Shailja opens every piece of her work on a mind that is as pristine as a canvas—unbiased, spotless, and ready to absorb colours to go from ‘nothingness’ to a ‘world of expressions’.
